Brussels

I love brussel sprouts these days.  I wouldn't have said that about 2 years ago, but the more I eat them the more I want them.  Here is a basic way to make them.  I truly believe everyone should give them a chance, these little guys get a bad rap.  But they are wonderful when done right....Sometimes you have to kiss a few frogs to find a prince!

Here's what ya need:

Olive oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper, lemon juice, and brussel sprouts

1. Wash and cut your brussel sprouts in half. Chop the bottom off first then in half length wise. Any leaves that fall off in the process throw away, this will make them less bitter.  If nothing really falls off,  just peel off the outside layer or two.

2. Lay out on a baking sheet, and toss with olive oil. Just enough to slightly coat them, no one likes greasy vegetables!

3. Add your lemon juice, salt, pepper, and garlic powder and toss again. Try to make them single layer but it doesn't have to be perfect.

3. Put into your oven at 400 degrees for about 40 minutes, flipping occasionally.

The recipe:

1 1/2 tbs olive oil

1 tsp garlic powder

1 1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

Juice of 1 lemon (about 1/4 cup)

About 2 pounds of brussel sprouts

The extras:

* Salt will help break down the brussel sprout, so don't skimp on it!

* These will serve about 4 people.

* Try them alongside this pork tenderloin for a great dinner menu.
